Boren Brothers Jewelry
WHY THE BOREN BROTHERS?
We care about your quality, and your wallet. I myself am a chain enthusiast, that's why I decided to get into this industry. There are way to many "quality brands" who will sell you overpriced garbage. Once I was on vacation when I bought a 50 dollar rope chain that was supposed to be from a "high quality" brand and it turned my neck green after 2 days of gentle use! I wore it for probably 5 hours and they refused to fulfill their warranty. As long as I run this company there will never be such an incident. With every batch of chains we will sample some to wear in a pool, wear in salt water, exercise in, and shower with to insure that your are receiving a quality chain that will be durable and neck safe.
Materials
The material of jewelry is very important. This often determines the life of the jewelry, whether or not it will wear off on your skin, and even if you will have a reaction to it. Yes you can have reactions to certain materials. This is why you should NEVER buy from someone that isn't upfront about their materials. 9/10 times those companies are hiding something.

What materials are for me?
Daily Use
For daily use we recommend 304 stainless steel. Stainless steel is a great balance of quality, affordability, and durability. Stainless steel, unlike other affordable options like brass and copper, will never turn your neck green. It will still look and feel like a solid quality metal. For our gold finish we use a real 18K gold PVD coating which is much more durable than traditional plating processes. PVD is such a great coating that it is same process used by high quality brands such as Rolex.
Money Flexing
If your goal is to show off how much money you have then solid gold is the way to go. The higher the carat the more pure and valuable it is. The common ones are 14K, 18K, and 24K. This is the percentage of gold. 14K = 50%, 18K = 75% and 24K is 100% gold. 18K is the most popular because it is higher quality than 14K but more durable than 24K. 14K is also very common as it is comparatively much more expensive. 24K is rare due to its expense and difficulty to work with but is the most luxurious of any chain.
Special Occasion
925 stirling silver is the best option for special occasions without having to break the bank. Silver isn't quite as durable as stainless steel and can oxidize given enough time. However, silver is viewed as a much higher quality material and gives a brighter shine. It is important to note that 10-15% of the population (primarily women) has an allergic reaction to silver according to walkindermatology.com.
Stone Types
When talking about stones there are 2 scales you should know of. The Mohs Hardness scale which tells the hardness out of 10, and the refractive index which measures how shiny something is. The 3 common types of stones are CZ stones, Moissanite, and Diamond. CZ stones are the most common due to their affordability. For the price however, it's a great stone with an 8-8.5 on the mohs hardness scale and a respectable 2.15-2.18 refractive index. Moissanite is growing in popularity for being very similar to real diamond at a fraction of the cost. It passes most diamond testers with a 9 on the mohs hardness scale and is actually the shiniest stone in the world with a refractive index of 2.65. Diamond is by far the most expensive and is the hardest material on earth with a mohs hardness of 10. Its shininess is in between CZ stones and moissanite with a refractive index of 2.42
